March 2008 “Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance. Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor vexation.” We at The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Foundation are reminded of these words of Saint Francis as we reflect on another year of extraordinary progress in executing our mission. We are grateful for the overwhelming generosity of our donors and the passionate dedication of our volunteers, and we are mindful of our obligation to steward the resources entrusted to us while continuing to expand the impact of the Foundation’s efforts. In 2007, the Foundation recorded another record year of operating performance, and our endowment grew substantially as a result. We awarded our fourth, four-year partial scholarship, to John Scola of Fairfield, Connecticut, in August 2007. John, a member of Boston College’s Class of 2011, joins Steve Marconi of Oradell, New Jersey (BC ‘08), Christina Carney of Staten Island, New York (BC ‘09) and Jillian Burdziak of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania (BC ’10) as a Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Scholar. We have decided to utilize our expanded endowment by increasing the annual scholar grant levels, beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year. On September 5, 2008, we will host The Sixth Annual Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Golf Tournament, at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Our ability to expand on our recent success hinges on your continued support, and we hope you will join us. On behalf of The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Foundation, thank you again for your generosity, and for helping us honor the memory of Tom Brennan by lending a helping hand to others.
