January 17, 2007 “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” These words of St. Paul aptly capture the inspiration driving the numerous volunteers supporting the mission of The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Foundation. Their efforts, combined with your continued generosity, helped the Foundation reach new heights in 2006. Last year, the Foundation’s endowment grew substantially, a result of continued revenue growth coupled with our minimal expense base. We awarded our third, four-year partial scholarship to Jillian Burdziak of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, in August 2006. Jillian, a member of Boston College’s Class of 2010, joins Steve Marconi of Oradell, New Jersey (BC ‘08) and Christina Carney of Staten Island, New York (BC ‘09) as a Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Scholar. In 2007, the Foundation will reach two significant milestones. In September, we will host The Fifth Annual Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Golf Tournament. We expect this anniversary event to surpass the considerable success of our prior tournaments, and hope you will join us. A date and location for the golf outing will be announced soon. We will also award our fourth scholarship to an incoming Boston College freshman, at which point there will be a recipient of The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Scholarship in each class year at BC. While our ultimate goal is to fund full four-year scholarships, we are proud to have achieved this milestone so rapidly. On behalf of The Thomas M. Brennan Memorial Foundation, thank you again for your extraordinary generosity and continued support, and for helping us honor the memory of Tom Brennan by lending a helping hand to others.
